What's the buzz?
2003-04-08 - 3:07 p.m. You know, the propaganda of this war is really ludicrous. I almost want to laugh out loud sometimes, but the brutality of it all keeps me from doing that. (Well, except when I heard the story about the Iraqis who ran out to stage a propaganda photo-op on a blown out U.S. tank, only to get interrupted by a U.S. jet sending them running for cover again.) But I mean, let's face it, both side are ridiculous. However, I think the U.S. takes the cake. Just two days ago, if I'm not mistaken, U.S. authorities were openly questioning whether Saddam was still alive, hinting that he probably was not. Then yesterday, they bombed another one of his palaces, saying that they had intelligence reports indicating he was there, and also saying they think it's very possible they killed him. Huh? Wasn't he already dead? In other words, roughly what they are now saying is "OK, now we *really* think he might be dead. Last week we were just foolin' when we said we thought he might be dead. See, we knew he wasn't dead, but this time, we really really think he is dead. Or might be dead. Honest. Cross our hearts and hope to die." *Sigh* Oh, and the "chemical weapons" find? Roughly, here are the headlines I saw yesterday: Globe & Mail: "Unidentified chemical containers discovered" NY Post (?): "NERVE GAS FOUND" Can you say "discrepancy"? And anyway, as if we're going to *believe* the U.S. at this point if they *do* actually find chemical weapons. They've done so much to discredit themselves that about the only point in listening to them is to figure out what NOT to believe. ************* ************* Geekious entries: The time, she flies - 2005-05-05 Cool - 2005-03-07 Alone time - 2005-02-22 Music stuff - 2005-02-17 I want - 2005-02-16 (If the geeksbook doesn't work, try writing me a diaryland note.) |
