Easter Weekend
2003-04-28 - 11:01 a.m. OK, I know it's a little late. This has been sitting on my desktop for a few days, I ran out of time to finish it off… The night of Easter Monday was the end of the weekend with the kids. I left work early and drove with Pinky to meet their mom in Kingston. I told them I would see them in ten days, only to find out the next day that their mom changed plans on me and I won’t be seeing them for 11 days. Anyway. The weekend together was great. Four whole days. Sunday we had Easter brunch at politika’s mom’s. The kids and I threw the ball around in the back yard, and they really seemed to enjoy it -- when they weren’t fighting about who should have the ball. Sunday night we watched part of Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory, then had to switch over to a program about the archeological find of what might be the ossuary of the brother of Christ, because we had promised to tape it for someone (I don’t have a proper cable-converter; long story), and because Eldest wanted to see it(!). We wanted to watch it and all, but I think Littlest was enjoying Wonka. Anyway. Earlier that day, later that night, and early the next morning, Littlest acted out an obsession about getting to watch the movie, “The Dark Crystal.” We had talked about watching the DVD, which we’ve borrowed, but decided it might be too scary for her. Let me tell you, the kid is determined. Her mother must be giving in to her demands quite regularly, because she. Did. Not. Let. Up. Neither did I though. The DC was not watched, and hopefully she has learned not to try to manipulate me. Saturday was a simple day spent getting some groceries and visiting politika’s mom and the rabbit she had borrowed for the weekend. I’ve never seen a rabbit try to hump a cat before, but that’s what this rabbit does. The kids enjoyed playing with such a social, cute, animal. Luckily, the rabbit did not hump them. Friday, we… oh wait, it was Friday when we visited the rabbit. I don’t remember what we did Saturday. Oh yeah – crafts and easter egg-painting? I’m not sure when that happened, but it did happen. Sunday (dizzy yet? My mind really does wander) we had the Easter egg hunt. Poli and I hid them all Saturday night. Eldest woke up at 5:30am, but having been told to wait until 7:30 to get up (following the 1:30am Christmas-wakeup fiasco), took the clock off the wall and held it on her bed until it was time to get up. I felt so bad for her! Anyway, the hunt was fun, even if Littlest found eggs in the bathtub that neither Pinky nor I had put there... (I think Littlest was trying to look as good at finding eggs as her sister.) Um, so yeah. Sorry for the rambleness and boritude of this update, but I kinda wanted to get Easter weekend written down in some form.
