Update? What update?
2003-05-20 - 4:05 p.m.

I don't know what's going on around Diaryland, but it seems like the "nothing" is taking over. Half my buddy list doesn't update anymore, and I myself seem to have lost inspiration for continuing this. I'm not saying I'm officially ending it or anything, but I do know that lately I just haven't had the will to write. When I try, it comes out as depressing, morbid crap.

Anyway.

I just spent the long weekend with the kids. I found it really hard to part with them this time. I'm looking forward to the two 3-week chunks I get with them this summer, but I'm dreading saying goodbye at the end of each of those chunks.

Friday night was the first time in a while that I've come back home to no Pinky; she was out helping the Operatic Society with their show. I missed her, but at the same time kind of enjoyed being the main target of the kids' focus again as I got them ready for bed and said goodnight.

Saturday we were at Pinky's mom's for cf's birthday breakfast; I sat in the sun for a couple of hours, and believe me, a bald head ain't a good match for the sun's rays. I had to crash for half and hour later in the afternoon just to get my wits back.

Saturday night we took the kids to the Mikado; they were pretty good, only passing out towards the end of the show, which is pretty much what I felt like doing at that point, too.

(Oh, that brings me to another point. The lead soprano in this year's show is single-handedly trying to teach the group a lesson they'll never forget. See, the director cut her father from the show as alternate because he still hadn't learned his part on the eve of opening night, so she backed out of the performance he was supposed to participate in, leaving the society in the lurch. Thankfully, a willing and capable substitute was found, but man, I am so happy to not have to be dealing with that group again this year.)

Anyway, Sunday I skipped my high school reunion and drove off to Ottawa for a visit with my sister, my stepmom's 40 relatives, and the mysterious bog people.

More later.
