Ex update
2003-09-04 - 3:03 p.m. (I found this lying around on my computer from a few months back… circa July. Figured I'd finish it off and post it.) One thing I haven't caught up since trying to get some semblance of routine back into this here diary is the status on the Evil Ex. Here's a short summary: * After my Dad practically begged me to let him and grandma have a few days with the kids this summer, I agreed to let them go there for a few days, giving up part of my own legally allocated time with them, with great (albeit selfish) misgivings. When Ex found out, she went ballistic, accusing me of being too cheap to pay for daycare. This was such a burn, especially after I had agonized over letting them go, but did so for their own good (so they could bond a bit with their grandparents), rather than just keeping them all to myself in Montreal for 3 days they would've spent with a day-sitter anyway (until I got home from work each night). * Within a week of this happening, she tried to buy some prescription medication for the kids with my work insurance card, and it didn't work (my company changed insurance companies and apparently they didn't transfer over all the data). She gave me shit for that. She also misread our legal agreement (or is trying to pull one over on me) and claims that I have to pay the full amount of whatever's not reimbursed by insurance. In fact, the legal agreement states that only if non-reimbursed amounts exceed $100 do I pay, and then only a portion. Geez, you'd think the $600 a month I'm giving her would be enough to cover small expenses like these, no? *Then*, she insisted I send cash to cover the whole expense, without showing me a bill. I keep asking for the latter, but she hasn't sent it, and doesn't even reply to my requests. * I've noticed that she's taken a few day trips with and without the kids this Spring and Summer – and All without her new fiancé. This is very much NOT like her; she doesn't like to go anywhere without her guy, and I'm wondering if things aren't so wonderful in paradise after all. I would not even be surprised to find out that the post-xmas wedding plans end up falling through or getting postponed. * This November, she's going away for a week with her beau and asked if I would take the kids. I'm happy to take 'em, but I can't help wondering where her priorities are if she's taking her kids out of school to go away, especially when she just had 6 weeks during the summer when the kids were with me anyway. * Maybe the worst thing about all of this is the possibility that her actions are teaching the girls that in order to survive, they need to meet a rich guy and move to a different town, rather than make their own career paths. Oh, and one of the other bad things is that Littlest has informed me that she regularly gets smacked in the head by Ex as punishment. Nice, huh? OK, that's enough ranting for now.
