Homemaking
2003-09-15 - 1:33 p.m.

Ok, so now my ex is asking me to help fund the kids' horseback riding lessons. Again, how is it that the $610 a month that I pay her is *not* enough to cover stuff like this? That's what the payments are meant for, hence the term "Child Support"...

Oh, and Eldest happened to mention that Ex and her fiance's wedding is only "maybe" happening after Christmas as planned. Methinks not all is well in paradise after all.

I also have this weird feeling... it's probably totally off-the-mark, but I just have this weird, indescribable feeling that the kids will one day end up back with me. Maybe it's just a case of wanting something so bad you start to believe it will happen. Ah, who knows?

This weekend we took the kids apple-picking in Rougemont. It was at a big ol' farm with barns and animals, including a baby peacock, baby rabbits, and other cute things. There were no signs for the place (it was recommended by Pinky's mom) so I guess they're not really in it for the money. It was like wandering onto a friend's lot. We played with the animals, then picked 5 bags of appleds (one bag for Pinky's mom). I realized that on some levels I miss the quiet solitude of living out in the country, where the loudest sounds you hear sometimes are crickets. Of course, I know if moved from the city, I'd probably miss that, too.

We then visited ex-ex-lead singer, a female friend who's now got two little boys. I think Pinky was only mildly upset by having two little babies in her face (and dealing with the emotions they evoke); I wish it could not be so hard on her to see them, as a lot of our friends seem to have babies, and, well, I generally feel what she feels, you know? In the end, the two-year old seemed to warm up to me for some reason, and I played with and carried him around the house before leaving.

Sunday morning we tried to make pies but apparently the humidity these days makes it impossible to make dough. We'll try again in a few weeks. Instead, I made an apple coffee cake (with contributions from all), while Pinky made apple jelly and helped Eldest improvise some apple-turnover type things with the dough she'd been playing with.

And to continue in the happy-homemaker-Mr-mom vein, last night I prepared the ingredients for crockpot chicken tetrazini, which is currently cooking on the kitchen counter as I write this... mmm, supper...
