So, it has finally happened. The Ex and her Fiance have broken up. It's not like one couldn't see it coming, I guess.

She left a message for me this morning. Apparently she's moving back to Ottawa immediately, and, next week, the kids will return to the school they were in 6 months ago.

I have to admit, that there were times I wished this would happen -- that she'd return to Ottawa. I knew it was a bit of a selfish thought, since it was really in the kids' interests that they have a stable house and home over there. But now it's happened, and I feel so bad for the kids. I even feel a little bit for her, too.

Perhaps I'm being too nice. After all the crap she put me through earlier this year and all the horrible things she said to me, maybe she doesn't deserve any slack. I don't know. And I'm sure it won't be long before she tries putting me through more crap, so I might as well dispel any sympathetic thoughts for her. She knew (or should've known) what she was getting into, taking off to be with a guy she'd only know for 5 months, and only on weekends at that. It's not my job to look out for her; right?

One thing is for sure, though: it's good to know that the kids'll be closer, that they'll be back in their old school, which I know they liked, and with teachers who have actually have e-mail addresses...

And now I'm off to Ottawa. First thing I'm going to do is give each of the girls a monstrous hug. I hope they are OK, and that they'll be OK, and this won't confuse them too much more.

Oh, and it looks like my parents are meeting Pinky's parents, grandparents and uncle this weekend. Should be interesting.
