Sick, bitched at, and music news
2003-10-21 - 1:38 p.m.

I figure I might as well join the ranks of people bitching about CF's mom today. On Sunday night I went to dinner with Politika there, and I had to endure:
* CF's mom bitching at me for being a cookie-dunker
* CF's mom bitching at me for a misunderstanding that occurred 10 months ago
* CF's mom bitching about her student tenants.

At one point I found myself raising my voice and almost getting angry over the cookie-dunking thing. Seems like I'm losing my mind too. Granted, being sick lately and generally feeling a little out-of-sorts with the fluctuating kids-situation has made me a little ill-tempered, but whatever.

Anyway, it was tempting to throw down the gauntlet and argue with her about stuff, but I know it's no use. I think she actually *enjoys* being bitter and throwing me an evil glare every now and again so that I'll shift uncomfortably in my seat. But hey, at least she talks to me, whereas my previous in-laws would barely give me a second look and would never so much as even offer me a drink when they had me over.

I guess I'll just have to grin and bear it around her from now on.

In other news, the cold/flu that befell me last week is having a hard time letting go. Listen, Cold, it's over. I know we spent a few nights together, as well as several days on the couch cuddled together under a blanket reading or watching the baseball playoffs, but it's over. I'm done with you. I'm moving on with my life, getting back to work and music and all that other stuff. Besides, my girlfriend looks like she's considering a few romps in the hay with you, and there's just not enough room for both of us to be involved. So lay your infectious sniffling wherever you must, but leave me out of it, got it?

So I downloaded iTunes for Windows yesterday. It's kinda neat to be running a Mac app on Windows. They've still got some work to do though, it's a bit slow in spots and is missing some configuration settings. It's pretty cool that you can use it to see the music of other people on your network, though.

Speaking of music, we met up to do some more recording for the Original project on Sunday morning. We redid a couple of basslines whose previous takes were marred by some weird crackling. We'd just gotten started on a fresh song when in walked this new chick band that's sharing the local with us. Turns out they have Sunday mornings booked there. And they acted like it was no big deal -- I mean, don't they realize they were interrupting Rock History In The Making? ;-)

We had to stop, of course, and we'll pick up where we left off tonight, I guess. It is taking *so* long to get this thing done.

Speaking of recording, the Celtic band is starting on a demo next week. I'll attempt to put down my parts Monday night, then cf and marv will do their stuff on Thursday, if all goes as planned.

Speaking of Marv, Politika and I went karaokeing with him and members of the Operatic Society last Friday. I managed to do my requisite Neil Diamond song, but was hesitant to select anything else due to my cold. As it turned out, I needn't have worried, as the place never got around to giving me or Marv a second chance to sing. Marv does a mean Billy Joel though, I tell ya. :-)

Speaking of Billy Joel, I have nothing to say about him. He wrote a lot of songs. That is the end of this entry.

<bla bla>
