Entertaining, entertained
2004-04-30 - 11:30 a.m.

Man, am I ever in a crappy mood. I think it started last night watching our hockey team blow it again, progressed when we watched a taped episode of Smallville -- a show that seems to be going down the X-Files & Buffy toilet of self-indulgent, angst-ridden, soap-opera-esque liturgy -- and was made worse this morning by the cantankerous Dev manager who seems to constantly want to make it a point NOT to cooperate with the tech-writing department.

Anyway, happy Friday everyone! :-)

Tonight we're having a couple over for dinner. Aside from one night a couple of years ago when some of my family was in town, we've *never* had guests for dinner. Poli has been preparing a pork tenderloin and I've picked up some wine. I hope my mood improves, 'cause I suspect berating guests at a dinner party is not favourably looked-upon in the Martha Stewart book of home etiquette.

The rest of the weekend I suspect will be spent sleeping, fornicating, cleaning up files, and dropping by Chateauguay with Poli to pick up the first load of baby stuff from her family. I was hoping to get some time alone with the 8-track, too, but as usual it looks like that's out the window. Oh, and Poli finally gets her car back from repairs -- for one little part that no one seemed to have -- which will be a relief as my car is not insured to be driven every day.

Oh, the night before last we went to a birthday party for cf's soon-to-be-ex roommate. His mom was hosting; I'd heard about her and seen pictures, and now that I've met her I've concluded she reminds me very much of the great Catherine O'Hara. She seems like a very interesting lady. Also at said party were some guys who seemed to want to talk mostly about music, which is fine with me, even if I tend not to say much at these things. They talked, I listened, I inhaled the better part of a bottle of wine and Poli drove home.

Hey, maybe I should make it my goal to become a drunken lush that always has to be escorted out of parties? Might be an improvement on my persona, no? I could change my name to geeklush... ;-)

<bla bla>
