Father's Day weekend and crashes
2004-06-23 - 11:12 a.m.

Right on all three counts. :-)

Well, two anyway. The kids *did* have some Father's Day stuff to give me this weekend, and Eldest *did* want to go through the new stuff. Whether or not they wanted to get away from the living arrangement with the Ex and her b-friend is still to be determined. Hopefully once they begin their first 3-week stay of the summer here on Sunday night, we'll be able to get the occasional comment on what life is really like sharing a bedroom with mom and the new boy.

As for Father's Day, well, Eldest brought a tear to my eye. She filled in the blanks on a Father's Day questionnaire-as-card at school, with responses such as:

"I wish I could be with my father every day"
"My father is the best EVER"
"My father is as handsome as a king"

Littlest made a card with a song in it that she sang to me, along with a little cutout version of her to be hung on the car's rear view mirror as a freshener.

Man, I've got great kids.

Oh, we saw Shrek 2 on Sunday. Good, but not as good as the first. That's all I'm sayin'.

I had another banjo lesson last night. It wasn't quite as productive as I hoped it would be -- Mr. Banjo Teacher has a tendency to go off on tangents -- but I did manage to record him doing a few new tunes that I can learn to mimic.

In some crappy news, my hard disk at home failed -- literally days before a long-planned sit-down-back-everything-up-and-wipe-the-OS long weekend. Not much of real value was lost, with the exception of:

* All my contacts
* All my home e-mail for the past 3 years
* My RESUME.

That last one sucks quite a bit. However, I think my colleague at work still has a copy.

Damned 'puters. If only I had enough cash to drop on a Mac G5 with GarageBand... However I guess I'll have to settle for a new hard disk.

<bla bla>
