About ready to pop
2004-07-20 - 5:57 p.m. We are heading down the homestretch. Poli's entering her final 2 weeks as a pregnant lady. The worst thing about her pregnancy? She's felt so good I'm worried about how she'll be when the baby's out! :-) Anyway, I want to make an effort to update here a little more often to keep a record of how things go over the next few weeks/months. I'd like to be able to look back in a few years and see what’s been running through my frazzled brain these days. One of the things that *is* present in my brain is STRESS. I've got 2 weeks (hopefully, assuming the baby's not early) to wrap up a bunch of projects at work before I take 2 weeks off to spend with the baby, mom, Eldest and (soon to no longer be) Littlest. The latter two have insisted they want to be around when the baby comes, and I'm due to have them for three weeks anyway, so it should be pretty interesting and cozy in the apartment. In addition to work, there are things at home that need to be taken care of: picking a name, assembling the crib, installing car seats, preparing the hospital bag, making lists of people to call... and that's just a portion of the "to do" list I've made. In other news, we've been gigging – last Thursday and this coming Saturday. Last Thursday's gig was our first at a new place, so we had to make a good impression. Wouldn't you know it, I broke a string. That hasn't happened to me in *years* -- I don't even remember when it last happened live. It was also the first time for this particular guitar, and it so happens that this guitar goes way out of tune when a string breaks (not all guitars do). Generally, I'm pretty vigilant about changing my strings before gigs, and didn't bother to do it this time. Still, the guy called us back for this Saturday, so I guess it wasn't all bad... And more gigs means more money, which is a good thing given that Poli won't be working for the next few months, at least. And speaking of gigging, my ex-band is having in impromptu jam tonight, so I'd best skedaddle so's I can try and join 'em -- blow off stress an' all dat. More tomorrow.
